Mumbai to Bangalore (Bengaluru)
Comfortable outstation cab with professional drivers • Transparent fares • Flat 15% OFF on one-way trips
Overview
Bangalore (Bengaluru, capital of Karnataka) is 985 km south of Mumbai — too long for most cab passengers, who fly the route. But for groups of 4-6 with luggage, an overnight Mumbai-Bangalore cab is competitive on per-head cost. The drive takes 16-18 hours via NH 48 / Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway through Pune, Kolhapur, Belgaum, Hubli, Davangere and Chitradurga. Most Mumbai-Bangalore cabs are 'one-way drop' rather than round trip; the customer is moving and not returning. The inter-state permit fee at the Maharashtra-Karnataka border (Kognoli check-post) is about 850 rupees one-way. The route has 24-hour highway dhabas all the way to Bangalore, with established food halts at Kolhapur (Misal Pav at Bhausaheb), Hubli (Karnataka thali), Davangere (the famous Davangere benne dosa) and Chitradurga (the 17th-century seven-fort visible from the highway). For a Mumbai-Bangalore traveller looking at sightseeing, breaking the trip at Hampi (UNESCO Vijayanagara ruins, 350 km north of Bangalore on the same NH 48 corridor) is highly recommended. Bangalore itself is India's IT capital — the Electronics City, Whitefield and Outer Ring Road IT belt employs 1.5 million tech workers. Beyond IT, the city has the 1537 Bangalore Fort built by Kempe Gowda, Tipu Sultan's 1791 summer palace, the 1864 Lal Bagh Botanical Garden (with its 1889 glasshouse modelled on London's Crystal Palace), and the Vidhana Soudha state-secretariat building. Best season is November to February — Bangalore's 920 m elevation keeps it cool year-round, with average 25°C.
NH 48 via Pune-Belgaum KarnatakaHistory & Significance
Founded by Kempe Gowda I in 1537, Bangalore grew under the Wadiyars and the British who made it a cantonment town. After independence, the establishment of public-sector industries and later the IT boom transformed it into India's technology capital. The region has been an important cultural and historical centre for centuries, attracting scholars, pilgrims, and travellers from across the subcontinent. Over the years, various dynasties and rulers have left their mark on Bangalore (Bengaluru), contributing to its rich architectural and cultural heritage that visitors can still appreciate today.
